“I am the Officer

I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do –
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to –
All these people I’ve been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call “The Officer in Blue,”
But I’m just a person, just like you.

And through the years I’ve come to see,
That I am not always what you ask of me;
So, take this badge … take this gun …
Will you take it … will anyone?

And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be
All these things you ask of me?

THANK-YOU FOR YOUR LOYALTY TO OUR COMMUNITY AND KEEPING OUR RESIDENTS SAFE, WE WILL MISS YOU.  AS PART OF OUR COMMUNITY, A PIECE IN ALL OF US HAS DIED IN OUR HEARTS TODAY.  AGAIN, OUR PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILIES OF OFFICER MICHAEL CRAIN.

  1. Using the dead mans funeral for self-promotion is shameful. It was a gala; an elaberate extraviganze designed to mask the unchecked collusion among our community leaders. Riverside police department cannot even manage to resolve Neighborhood Watch concerns. Based on my community involvement in Riverside, RPD terrorizes and ruins non-violent citizen whistle blowers. Apparently, a disgruntle ‘PD brother’ blowing a whistle must murder innocents and die to be heard. As example of Riverside’s tight-knit and cowardly community leaders, RPD Officer’s John Start and Chris Carnahan failed to address or investigate to stop or resolve the economic crimes in progress within my Homeowners Association. I was an elected official on our communities Board of Directors representing 128 families, 2007-2009. jp
