CITY OF MORENO VALLEY: TOO IMMATURE TO RUN THEIR OWN CITY? JEMPSON AND PRICE PART OF THE PROBLEM?

Depositphotos_3792289_s copy2 copyFORMER RIVERSIDE MAYOR RON LOVERIDGE STILL PERFORMING.  DID MOVAL COUNCILMEMBERS GET THEIR POSITIONS BASED ON A LIE?  TMC SAYS ‘YES’ IN PART ONE OF THE STORY.

The Moreno Valley Recall Circus is coming back to town, this time featuring Council puppets George Price and LaDonna Jempson.  The with Master Puppeteer?  Former Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge……………..WHAT!?

Recall Moreno Valley started up again in full swing a couple of weeks ago when Councilmember Jeff Giba was served with Intent to Recall documents.  These papers were proudly served to Mr. Giba by the Peeden twins.  TMC happened to be in that meeting when the hoopla commenced.  It was all great theater.

As our nine (we are steadily growing our membership) regular readers know, we at Thirty Miles love us some drama, so we raced right home and read the recall papers.  What great scandal had been uncovered for us to salivate over?  To our disappointment, the argument on the recall petition was weak.  It essentially said, “this isn’t anything about what Giba did, but what we don’t like about Iddo.”

It seems the petitioners can’t make up their mind about a solid message.  I have no doubt that these people will get really BIG MONEY behind this recall however … just like the really BIG MONEY they said Iddo legally put behind the candidates that he had every right to support.  The message of this recall should be: MY MONEY IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!  Seems a bit hypocritical to us here at TMC.

At the May 24th, Moreno Valley City Council meeting we asked the million dollar question that everyone was dying to know:  “Are Councilmembers George Price and Ladonna Jempson involved in the recall of Councilmember Jeff Giba?”  There is a perception within the public that they are.  And who else could possibly be involved?  Surprise, suprise…could it be former Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge?  Is the master manipulator of Riverside County again pulling the strings and letting his students to do his dirty work, akin to a Political Science/Public Policy assignment in Recall 101?  Would Mayor Luv attempt to manipulate Moreno Valley politics for the benefit of Riverside?

Let’s take a look at George Price.  Price was the Parks Director at the city of Moreno Valley for a number of years.  We have observed that many of the public documents regarding George Price’s tenure with the City have been very difficult to obtain.  In our experience that the best indicator the City has reason to cover something up.  So what exactly is it?  Mr Price ran his campaign on the message, “I want to bring back respect to people on the Council and the residents who come up to speak,”  Our response is: show us all the documents so the R E S P E C T can start.

Mr. Price was actively involved in the Tom Owens recall, from which he won the seat.  “I got involved because I want to restore honesty, integrity and leadership to your council”, said George Price, adding that he’s the only candidate actively involved in the recall against Owings.  Is Mr. Price nothing more than a politician that will say and do anything to get elected, but then stab his fellow Councilmembers in the back at the first opportunity?  Mr. Price has stated publicly that he is not involved in the recall, but if you go to his Facebook page things certainly look a bit different.

Ladonna Jempson was actively involved in the recall of Victoria Baca.  On her Facebook page she is against the World Logistic Center, but at the same time is supportive of the 1000 jobs at the MoVal Amazon facility – starting pay, $12 per hour.  Isn’t Amazon a warehouse too?  She also is closely connected to the Facebook pages that are in favor of the current recall of Mr Giba.

We don’t believe Mrs. Jempson is actively engaged in this process, but we don’t think she would mind if it were successful either.  Our advice to Mrs. Jempson: be careful of who you think your supporters are.  These people will turn on you in as heartbeat.  It happens to very good people/politicians at the time in this neck of the woods.

So what’s this recall really about?  On November 5, 2014, when Corey Jackson went to bed, he believed he had won the race for District 2 of Moreno Valley.  His dream was that Mr. Price would be the Mayor and he would serve as the Mayor Pro Tem.  The 3-2 voting block was established as Price, Jempson, and Jackson.  They would have voted against the WLC and all the western Riverside County leaders would’ve been so proud of them for doing what they think was right for the region, but not necessarily what is right for Moreno Valley.

Unknowingly, these three would have just been the puppets for former Mayor Ron Loveridge and his buddies, so the real leaders of the County could get plans underway for their own March Joint Powers Warehousing District.  The City would benefit from all the impact fees, new tax base, and would be heroes for bringing all the jobs back to the region.  We guess that wasn’t, “God’s Plan,” though, because Corey Jackson lost and the Iddo Benzeevi rhetoric began shortly thereafter.

Their recall message seems loud and clear: it’s nothing personal about Mr Giba .. it’s all about Mr. Benzeevi and his bucks, and how he chooses to spend them on the political process.  We don’t really see this as any different than the Sheriff’s Union getting behind their candidates for a pay raise for all their members (which by the way was bestowed upon them a couple of weeks ago).  Long ago we learned that around here there are two set of rules: one for the haves and one for the have-nots.  Out of this system has grown two kinds of politicians: those that support the people and others that supports the HAVES.

Corey Jackson for Moreno Valley District 2 City Council November 5, 2014 • WE WON! Before I go back to sleep after a long campaign night, I want to thank God for giving me this gift of service. Thank you too my campaign manager George Hammonds for putting up with me. Thank you to George Huerta, Edward Olmedo, Darrell Peeden, Daniel Peeden for their love and countless hours. And of course to the voters of the 2nd District for trusting this “little punk” to represent their voice and improve their quality of life. I want to congratulate my fellow candidates on good campaigns and respectfully ask them for their support and participation moving forward. Thank you and “Good Night”

Corey Jackson for Moreno Valley District 2 City Council November 21, 2014 • I am regretfully announcing that we did not win this election, we lost by 7 votes. We put everything we had into this campaign in order to move the City of Moreno Valley in the right direction.  We knew at the beginning that defeating Jeffery Giba and Iddo Benzeevi was going to be very difficult.  It’s no secret that Iddo Benzeevi ran Jeffery Giba’s campaign for City Council through two separate Independent Expenditure Committees, one of which specifically opposed my candidacy. These Independent Expenditure Committees injected over a quarter of a million dollars into Jeffery Giba’s campaign for City Council, resulting in Iddo successfully placing his candidate on City Council. However, this doesn’t have to be the final result. We still have 5 days to request a recount. We have another chance through a recount to turn the votes in our favor.  Can we count on you to help us raise the $6,000 needed for the cost of the recount?  I’m not able to finance this recount myself.  I’m humbly asking for your help, please help me raise the money for the recount.  If you will commit to helping please go to https://coreyjackson.nationbuilder.com/donate and make your donation to the recount.-Corey Jackson

You can see in Jackson’s Facebook posts that the money that Iddo donated to the candidates of his choice really only mattered when Jackson lost the Council race.  So I ask, are the recalls rational, or just sour grapes?

Was Mayor Luv calling the Council Members of Moreno Valley stupid?  Does he believe they are too stupid to make a decision as complex as WLC?  The following was a January 2015 KVCR podcast interview with former Mayor of Riverside, Ron Loveridge, in which he states that Moreno Valley leaders may be too immature to take charge and lead a city of 200,000.

Was Loveridge talking down to them, or was he jealous of MoVal’s potential in his own elitist way?  Regardless, he called Moreno Valley, “immature.”  We looked at Thesaurus.com to find synonyms for immature: babyish, unsophisticated, premature, ‘wet behind the ears’, underdeveloped, sophomoric (meaning, “wise fool”).  We don’t believe the proud citizens of Moreno Valley should take this sitting down – dems’ fighting words!  It appears to us that what Loveridge really wanted to say was that Moreno Valley leadership is just plain, “stupid,” to make proper leadership decisions, which will direct the City towards prosperity.loveridgewalking2

Mayor Luv loves his jargon.  He speaks extensively towards the topic of, “social collateral.” So what is this “Social Collateral”?  In his distorted mind, it’s groups like Cindy Roth and the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce, The Monday Morning Group, The Lincoln Club, The Raincross Group, and a host of others who would gladly reach into your pockets and take a fistful of dollars via City Hall backroom dealings.

It is these groups that suck the money out of the taxpayer so they can keep their candidates in office.  Its all about the favors, you’d be wise to not make any mistake about it. You see … Iddo’s money is dirty, while the money that Cities funnel to these chosen groups are clean. [insert Joe Isuzu pic here]  Once again: two sets of rules.

To be continued…  This article is part 1 of a 3-part series, which will tie together March Joint Powers, the County Board of Supervisors, the Peeden Twins, Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey, former Moreno Valley Council Member Bill Batey, Moreno Valley Residents For Sustainable Development and many, many more….oh, what a twisted web we weave.

  1. Inland empress says:

Mayor Luv just hadn’t been caught. Using utility money for political favors, taxpayer money for sister city traipsing around the world.

  2. mvgordie says:

If not mistaken, the only one who stated there would be incitements was Tom Owings, in fact he stated he did a 16 month investigation and was going to prove there was political corruption in Moreno Valley, however there was only on conviction as a result of the investigation, Tom Owings number one supporter and campaign walker, Marcelo Co.

The recall of Tom Owings was started by Alicia Espinoza and Debra Criag, yet you blame Riverside?

You constantly bash Riverside as interfering in Moreno Valley politics, now there you may have a point, as it is you, a resident of Riverside who can’t keep their nose out of our politics and city.

    • thirtymiles says:

Okay Gordon, you say we may have a point with reference to Riverside interfering with Moreno Valley politics, but then you say we need to keep our nose out of our politics and city. You are not seeing the bigger picture, Moreno Valley politics effects Riverside, just as every surrounding city. A bankruptcy in San Bernardino effects Riverside. What the State Legislature does effects Riverside, what Washington does effects Riverside. Let’s not forget the County Supervisors. It effects the taxpayer directly or indirectly everywhere. To say we need to keep our noses out or our politics, who is this “our?” I know and encourage people from different cities to come and speak and our City Council, it’s open to everyone.

  3. Sorry you are so misinformed on your information and another mouthpiece for who? Owings, Baca, Molina and Gutierrez have all proven to be huge costly liabilities to the City of Moreno Valley and voters are now wide awake and will no longer tolerate leaders who become more of a liability vs. a valuable asset.

Voters also know today to never give their valuable vote to; Tom Owings, Victoria Baca, Jesse Molina and Gutierrez, we can’t afford them anymore.

    • thirtymiles says:

      Hey Girl,
Owings is gone Baca is gone Jessie is your Honorable Mayor and Gutierrez was just voted into office by the Valuable votes cast by the fine folks of Moreno Valley. You can’t afford not to have them. The executive staff at Moreno Valley has been the liability. Have you seen the lawsuits they are paying out for stupid stuff. Didn’t the City Attorney just pay out $1.2 million, where any legitimate attorney could see that this was shear sign of legal incompetence. She didn’t defend the taxpayers of Moreno Valley as she should of. When I get the rest of my public document I will be more than happy to share them with you. Follow the money it will tell the real story of Moreno Valley. You can be sure I will be posting this information on my blog site. If you don’t like my information don’t read it. By the way, how exactly are we misinformed, can you please elaborate.

      • The $1.2 million came from the misdeeds of city leaders at City Hall; the City Attorney was made the scapegoat for these leaders’ misdeeds, attorney’s understand in advanced what they are up against should they go to trial and I am sure city officials took an in depth analysis of the financial burden impact to the city’s bottom line, funny how Molina wanted to pursue the lawsuit regardless of the cost and now voters know why:

Everyone knows in the City of Moreno Valley that our current Mayor, Jesse Molina is not an Honorable individual and has been a huge liability vs. a valuable asset

Did you not read the legal documents where our disgraceful Mayor name is mentioned in the wrongful termination of ex employee Albert Brady who stated that Jesse Molina came into his office demanding the case file of then city leader Marcelo Code who was being investigated for code enforcement violations???????????

        Sharing some insight as to why settlements are made;

No “Guilty” Verdict- In a trial, there’s usually a “guilty” or “not guilty” verdict, but in a settlement the defendant, person or party on the defensive, may not want a record of guilt. Settling a case is a way to pay for a mistake, but not admit wrongdoing

  4. mvgordie says:

Well thank you thirtymiles, as like any mouse, dangle the cheese and you will trap them every time.

You no longer have any argument, as you just stated that what goes on in Moreno Valley affects Riverside and its surrounding areas, so all this BS about Riverside is just hot air, as our issues like the WLC are their issues as well.

Oh and I guess I need to explain “our,” in, “our politics,” well that would be Moreno Valley’s, you are not a voter or a resident here, you may have other issues with “our” city, but you have no voting power here and “our” elected answer to the voters who elected them, of which you are not.

Maybe I should have used the term you might use, like “my” city, “my” politics, but that would be a little selfish and egotistical, but in seeing the company you keep in “our” city, I understand.

    Again, thank you.

    • thirtymiles says:

Ditto Gordon, from one blogger to another, you have your view point and we have ours. We are taxpayers in MV when we fill our cars with gas, shop, eat and we actually bought our car at Moss Motors MV. We support your City, more than we support our own. Was there a sign at MV City Council that stated “outsiders not welcome?” Just because you don’t live in MV doesn’t mean you don’t have anything valid to say that won’t be taken into consideration by Council. Can anybody tell us what Iddo did besides spending his money. Can anybody show us what Jeff Giba did, not just a bunch of emails. We want to see the minutes of the meeting where he took a vote, and the financials which connect him to the charter school. Gordon, there is a direct relationship between Riverside and MV, what are you referencing when your state as pertaining to “hot air?” First, you must realize that way back MV was part of the City of Riverside. What happened in between is what I’m talking about. I see you have difficulty with progress in you city when it comes to the WLC, that is something former Mayor Loveridge would like to see on the Riverside property line. Regardless, you telling people that they don’t have a right to participate in MV politics is against the law. The law provides public participation at any public meeting regardless of where you live. We live in America.. Give me a call sometime Gordon, let’s talk about the high price of beef.
Best regards, it’s always a pleasure when you chime in, Javier Moreno

  5. FYI, You may consider the information on this blog post “good Information” because you fail to give any consideration to actual evidence. This blog post by TMC is mainly speculation and assumptions. Loveridge has nothing to do with this recall. That is laughable. Just because a few people including Iddo witnessed the Twins engaged in a conversation with Loveride at a conference does not mean that he is behind this recall. Come on guys! As for Jempson and Price, they are not associated with this recall effort. Understand, before we began this recall, we approached “each” council member with a proposed legislation that would keep big money from influencing our political process. Each council member has made no attempt to place that proposal or a version of it on the agenda. Why? We simply want the same thing you want, an honest government. Nothing more nothing less. I understand the desire and need to create false narratives that explain “why” we are doing what we are doing, however, no city council member is working on this recall or associated with it in any way. Why would they be they could care less about passing a conflict of interest ordinance, this is shown by their recent actions. If they will not do the very simple task of getting something on the agenda or even following up with the discussion on the ethics commission, it is safe to say each one of them do not care about big money in Moreno Valley. They are all loyal to the special interest that elected them or the seat that they wish to hold onto. Of course, you will continue to use this Corey Jackson involvement narrative as well. This is misleading to say the least. Understand that successfully recalling a city council member is no easy task. Changing the seat because of sour grapes is not a reason that would fuel this recall for very long. In fact, if this was the reason, the recall would have never got off the ground. Take the time to understand that the majority of people working on this recall opposed Corey Jacksons campaign. Why would they support a recall that had a goal to elect Corey?

  6. Vivian Moreno, Do you believe that Big Money has to much influence in political campaigns?

    • thirtymiles says:

I agree but that means you need to stop the influence of the big union money as well. I’m sure Mr. Love told you about all the buckets of money that went into the Valarie Hills’ campaign in Riverside well over a $100,000. This was paid to her campaign directly. The sheriff’s union got behind her in a big way and we don’t have sheriffs in Riverside. There is no difference Big money is Big money. If you want to stop it for one you have to stop it for all. Oh by the way Valarie hill lost!

      • You are assuming that we think that there is a difference in Big Money. Valerie Hill may have lost however, the majority of the time that is not the case. Furthermore, if we agree that big money has far to much influence in our political process, shouldn’t you be working to support our movement instead of working so hard to tear us down? Vivian, we are on the same team. Please understand that I do not work for Loveridge, Jackson, Jempson or Price. We are no different than you. We want honest government. We have no special interest. And why would Loveridge tell me about Valerie? You are assuming that I have some sort of personal or professional relationship with Loveridge. Just because we know each other does not mean that there is some sort of underlined master plan. The only master plan that Daniel and I have is to do what we can to create honest government, a government for the people. Isn’t that what you fight for? Isn’t that the reason behind your blog post and what you invest countless hours to achieve? Perhaps you should take the time to meet those that you persecute before you attempt to destroy a cause that has a heart, a cause that has meaning, a cause that 90% of Americans agree with. I, nor anyone on that petition, you have posted on your site are your enemy, we simply are tired of being sick and tired. I know you understand that. Have a great day. Please do us a favor and remove our personal information along with our signatures from your site. Many of us have been victims of identity theft. The consequences aligned with someone taking advantage of our signatures and personal information is enough to set a family back in a major way. Thank you for caring.

And just to be clear, the Peeden Twins do not work for anyone. We take actions on things we care about. We are not taking direction from any of those individuals you have listed. Period.

  7. Vivian Moreno, I sent you a Private Facebook message last night, please take the time to read it and respond. Thank you.

    • thirtymiles says:

I will respond tomorrow if you saw my face book page today is my Birthday and I will be out the rest of the day.My husband will respond to your other post this evening thank-you for the dialog.

  8. Here is the video that shows that the Peeden Twins were not the ones that served Jeff Giba. If you are going to write stories about issues and events make sure that you do have the facts. The Peeden Twins did not serve Giba the recall paper work.

  9. Have a great Happy Birthday. I look forward to your response. Thank you
