Mayor Bailey’s Moral Compass…Former Riverside City Manager Brad Hudson

The Sacramento Bee reported on December 18th, 2015 that CEO Brad Hudson is leaving the County of Sacramento, in his predictable style of departure. DRAMATIC….. Hudson was also former City of Riverside’s City Manager. He left the taxpayer with paying for compulsive purchases such as a white noise contraption, a $600 personal shoe shine machine and paying daily for his outside purchases of coffee. He was totally responsible for leaving the Citizens of Riverside with an unsustainable debt that the taxpayers will continue to carry for decades.

Reading between the lines of the Sac Bee article what we have another scenario that we had in the City of Riverside, but no one admitted to it, “Leave or be Fired.”  First, he still had 8 months remaining on his contract and the rumors that were circulating was that his contract would not be renewed.  Multiple closed door meetings to discuss his performance evaluation during this year possible didn’t turn out well.  Hudson, in his dramatic style as to “control the message,’ also appeared to intentionally keep one of the Supervisors, Phil Serna, from commenting on the Press Release.  While only one Supervisor, Susan Peters, was allowed to comment on the great work Hudson was doing…

SUPERVISOR SUSAN PETERS                                 SUPERVISOR PHIL SERNA

The Sac Bee reported the following December 21, 2015:  Selected after a secretive process, Hudson came to Sacramento County in 2011 after two decades as an administrator in Riverside County. He immediately raised eyebrows with a $21,000 refurnishing of his office, including a $78 shoe polisher – a tone-deaf move when the county was still in a budget crunch.

VIVIAN MORENO’S COMMENTS TO SACRAMENTO BEE ARTICLE:

We tried to warn all of you about him but you wouldn’t listen. He has a way of communicating what you want to hear. This is his style of departure. I’m sure Supervisor Susan peters believed his BS. She probably collaborated very closely with him! The saying in Riverside under the Brad Hudson Reign was SLEEP WITH YOU BOSS GET A PROMOTION. It never was about the citizens of Riverside or the Citizens of the County of Sacramento it was always about BRAD and the perception of the office of City Manager or CEO. He always had to have the best regardless of the state of affairs of the city or county of which he worked. He saw the writing on the wall the County of Sacramento is probably in deep financial trouble and doesn’t want his name associated with it.  It wouldn’t look good on his resume.

He was the driving force behind the Renaissance program in Riverside, that we cannot pay for.  Brad Hudson put The City of Riverside in an enormous amount of debt that we will NEVER be able to recover from.  He was reckless and arrogant and had to gold plat his office here as well.  One of the most incredible moments of his departure from Riverside was when our current Mayor Rusty Bailey stated Brad Hudson was his MORAL COMPASS.  That speaks volumes as to the government style of our Mayor.

Let’s look at the bright side now the staff no longer has to deal with him any more they are all probably jumping for joy. Except the ones that he fired for not doing his dirty work. He used the intimidation-retaliation form of governing.  Be glad he’s gone!  To bad for the new employees in Orange County maybe they will read this article or thirty miles of corruption and start looking for another job.

  1. Barry says:

Notice that the Supervisers weren’t going to renew his contract. He was finally told that HE would be the one who is fired!!! Board Chairman Serna knew that Hudson was destroying Sacramento County, and told Hudson to leave or be fired.

Newspaper Editors also say “Get Lost” to that Loser.

‘After four years, a change of leadership is in order. Hudson’s mindset no longer seems a good match for the county, or the state of the world.’

‘The next CEO also needs to be more cooperative with other officials in the county and more media savvy.’

‘It’s possible that Hudson’s contract, set to expire next August, wouldn’t have been renewed. Supervisors held an unusual number of closed sessions in the fall on his job performance.’

    • Thanks for your comment Gina, we attempted to warn Sacramento, but we were definitely one of the victims of his unscrupulous behavior, which we know now, by former city employees. – Best Javier Moreno

  3. Singing in Sacramento says:

An Open Letter to Bradley Hudson:

    Subject: Eminant Domain

    Bradley,

How nice to see your famed career go up in flames so very publically. Think if you can about all the careers youve ended and nobody could hear the quiet screams of families who lost everything because of you.

Only fitting that your career ends in a Public Condemnation, eminent domain, by the Board of Supervisors. You got the job you wanted and finally met your own Demon – Failure. And we all got to watch. Failure.

    Sincerely,

    Singing in Sacramento

    • We were involved with the same scenario, we never missed a payment with our prior landlords the Freeman Company. Once the City of Riverside bought our building, (by the way they paid more than the building was worth by market value at the time, that was how the city rolled), all hell was let loose. They (the City) was no where near being business friendly, but attempted to play games with us including the current Ward 1 Councilman. We understand your plight, that is why we started this blog, and this is not something I wanted to do. They made me do it because they said I was a bad business person, but the worse business entity is the City of Riverside. – Best, Javier Moreno

  4. Everywhere that Brad Hudson goes for employment, his corrupted luggage goes along with him. Orange county: You have been warned about Brad. Just ask the counties of Riverside and Sacramento.

  5. We dealt directly with Hudson when we had a successful business downtown Riverside. When we told him that the Downtown wasn’t worth $1/sq.ft everything went down hill. We found the City was negotiating with another business, the Citrus City Grill behind the scenes, and wanted us out. We never missed a payment to the Freeman Company who owned the building prior. To this day the City continues to libel and slander us by a former City Council member and even a Riverside City Attorney. They continue to do so even on record, we do not show we owe money. Our ward 1 City councilman didn’t even support on this. Best, Javier Moreno

  6. Reblogged this on TMC: Thirty Miles of Corruption and commented:

The never ending story of Bradley Hudson…

he screwed many not only the community..

  7. Aurora Chavez says:

I was one of the few people that complained to Hudson about “the Renaissance” or the 5 year of borrowed money. “If you are going to spend this money, you better spend it on something that will create a continous revenue stream,” At that time, Glen Helen Outside Concert Theater was making a lot of money for San Bernardino. I gave that as a suggestion.
Hudson said, “Good idea!”. And, went back to the Council to spend money! Unbelievable! Then, I knew, it was a free for all on spending. And, I was worried about paying it back! Then, ppl behind me said that they didn’t mind paying $30.00 more on their property taxes! Maybe, they didn’t understand that it would be compounded every year boosting your payment for your future generations. Hudson was such a smooth operator. He convinced everybody to take the money but the Mayor Loveridge and the Council will determine where the money gets spent after the communities input. Yeah. Right! Do you think Ward 6 & 7 just only requested road Beautification?? Because that’s all they got from the Renaissance. And, most of the money all funneled to the remodeling of the Fox. Mayor Loveridge’s pet project for downtown. It will take million of dollars to ever break even on the money spent on the Fox. Yes. Old rant. But, true.
